It is an humanistyc model of psychotherapy that focuses on personal development and the recovery of the ability to live in the present, spontaneity and responsibility. It conceives the human being as a complete entity made up of body, mind and soul that can achieve well-being by working for the integrity and balance of these three parts.
Regarding the focus of therapy, it focuses more on the processes than on the content itself, giving importance to what is happening today and not to moments in the past. The psychologist or psychologist guides the person to realize how they impact and is impacted by their environment, making them aware of their way of doing things and helping them to see another more useful way of carrying them out.
therapy is based on two ways of working:
-Increase self-awareness to make them responsible and master their thoughts, actions and behaviors.
-Close past situations that still affect your well-being today.
The objective is to allow the person to get to know themselves better and regain lost creativity, restoring the ability to choose the way to face life.
What problems does Gestalt therapy treat?
Gestalt therapy allows us to know the relational patterns, thoughts and behaviors that block present consciousness and lead to unhappy situations. For this reason it is used to treat problems such as anxiety, depression, self-esteem, difficulties in relating, loss of control ... And for the physical effects that these problems generate such as sleep or digestive disorders, back pain or headache...

How is Gestalt therapy applied?
The psychologist or psychologist accompanies the patient to help him carry out a process of self-discovery and personal growth that allows him to find a way within himself or in relation to the environment. This transformation consists of four phases:
1. Acceptance: you become aware of what you are living in the present (anger, joy ...) and you accept it. The meaning of this is that all the feelings that are saved end up producing discomfort and manifesting themselves in a psychosomatic way.
2. Responsibility: once the person accepts their feelings, they take responsibility for them. Of what he feels and lives, without blaming others for what happens to him. When this is achieved, the person is able to change and take control of their life, enhancing the resources they have to face difficulties and situations.
3. Dialogue: in Gestalt therapy, the therapist accompanies the path of the patient. An experience where a relational and emotional field is co-created.
4. Action: the person develops and internalizes new techniques to manage different situations that create discomfort.
It trusts in the capacity of the person for the self-regulation of their organism and proposes the search for authenticity, transparency and internal coherence. Looking for the balance of being from the coherence between the mental (language), the emotional (feelings) and the corporal. The methodological approach of the training will be experiential and based on individual and group experiences, integrated into the assimilation of Gestalt theory, incorporating contributions from different thinking approaches that allow new views of the human being and his relationship with the world.
The problems and difficulties you have today are addressed. In this way, they are allowed to identify their responsibility in them, assuming the feelings that they generate and putting into practice, with the help of the therapist, the skills necessary to overcome each situation.
